Chain trapping

December 26th, 2007 by Eskordok

If you have a Mage in the group he will Polymorph (Sheep, Turtle, or Pig) Humanoids and Beasts.
If you have a Rogue he will Sap any Humanoids.
But if you have a Hunter, he can trap any kind of mob.
Of course that some mobs are immune to any kind of crowd control and they can also be resisted.

In order to trap you will use Freezing Traps.

What do you need to know for Chain Trapping:

  • If you are pulling for a trap don’t use misdirection on the tank or another player.
  • Don’t use serpent sting.
  • After mob is traped make sure to turn off your auto attack or hit Escape.
  • To pull a caster mob hit them with silencing shot.
  • Don’t place a trap in the way of other mobs.
  • After placing a trap, try to wait for cooldown before pulling so you have a trap ready in case of resist.
  • Once mob is trapped, move away to give yourself time to put another trap.
  • If mob is running to you and cooldown is not ready use scatter shot to give you some time for another trap.
  • Your pet can help you out if you needmore time to place a trap. Just call him back when trap is ready.

Here’s the video I made for chain trapping. I will try to add other videos inside Intances on the future.

Evades and your pet

December 21st, 2007 by Eskordok

The following video will show you why is important to use your pet when kiting some mobs.

I’m not really kiting here so i don’t dps or use the jump learn in lesson 1.

Kiting is an important skill used mostly in higher instances and raids. but also will help you do some group quests on your own.

But you can laso kite for fun. Just try not to bother other players, mostly newbies when kiting. If you bring an elite mob to a city to kill everyone inside it may be fun for you but not to others that can be kill when you do that.

Enjoy the movie!

Another Kite lesson

December 19th, 2007 by Eskordok

So, you are a hunter level 70 and you still don’t know how to kite? Not possible. Let’s learn how.
If you are a low level hunter some of this exercise are not for you but you still will learn the basis.

To learn how to kite you must follow this simple tips and practice. If you have a quest that require to kill an elite mob, before grouping try to do it yourself as a hunter.

Remember that you can kite a mob that you need to kill or you can kite a mob just for the pleasure to do it and bring him to a city.

Depending on your objective you will have to use different shoots. more damage if you intend to kill him or less damage, using rank 1 shoot if you want to kite him for a long run. Whatever the reason is always fun to do it.

This is not the same as chain traping, that will be another day.

So let’s start with a few tips:

  • Pick your target.
  • Get a spot clear of mobs. Or adapt on your way.
  • Mana up before starting to kite.
  • Put on Cheeta is the mob is fast.
  • Have your pet ready. Depending on the mob sometimes your pet will avoid that the mob evade. Or if his getting to close send the pet, feint death and continue.
  • If you intend to kill him use Aimed Shoot first, turn and start running.
  • This is the key aspect. While you run, jump, turn around 180 degres and shoot, then turn around again and keep running.
  • Use serpent sting on him all the time if you want to do damage.
  • Arcane Shot to keep aggro on you.
  • You can use rank 1 shoots so you don’t use a lot of mana if you want to kite him long distances just for fun.
  • Use autoshots when possible and if you want to minimize distance a bit.
  • If you get stunned, send pet and FD, then remove growl and keep kitting once Feint death is almost up again.
  • Use your enviroment. Cliffs and narrow passages will allow you to make more distance.
  • Check your map so you don’t run to a dead end or hostile zone.
  • If you arrive to a town just watch guards kill him. If you kite more than one sometimes they will kill all guards as well. See the last part of the video.

First Video - The jump.

More to come…

A good day in Alterac Valley

December 18th, 2007 by Eskordok

It was an AV like any other. For the moment anyway. We were advancing like always through the Field of Strive heading to Iceblood Graveyard (IGY). Like 10 hordes were waiting for us on on the narrow passage between Iceblood Tower and IGY. We kill them with no remorse. We were like a stamped of buffalos, without mercy slain everything we encounter on out path.

Once at IGY I stoped and waited to secure the place. I hate been killed and then having to run from the Stormpike Graveyard or worst all the way down. The buffalos continue to march with an unique ferocity. Like it was a race to see who gets the first T5 upgrade at the end.

Once IGY was secure I went to help take the Frostwolf Graveyard. After we kill every horde in there I also stoped to secure the place. I put my trap near the flag, my pet just next to it in aggressive and then I went back a couple of step to drink. I put my track hordes, I mean my track Humanoids, and then activate my racial ability to Shadowmeld.

Seems that taking the FW towers was not going so well because I saw a couple of hordes running over there. Lucky for me no one stopped at the GY, I was on my own for the moment.

So I was thinking, do I go over there to help? Well yes I will but first I want to secure this GY specially since we lost Iceblood GY already. And what good is a Hunter inside a tower, I will be crush inside a close space, but here, is a different story. These open spaces are my domain. :P

So was getting a little bored when I saw a horde warrior going over there to help probably but he sees the GY and stop. He look around taget my pet but wait for some seconds. He’s pobabably thinking “where is that damm hunter?, I hope is not Eskordok.” :) I’m nowhere to be seen. So he charge my pet.

I call my pet to me and warrior follow and go directly to my trap. Lucky for me that was my third trap in place since I was there.

Once trapped I put another trap in front of me before reveling myself. He use his trinket and come to me once again. I /bow (well they theach me than in Karate before any fight :) , and he’s trap again. I give myself some distance to start kitting this guy, I use my Hunter’s Mark/Pet Attack Macro and start casting Aimed Shoot. I follow it by Concussive Shot, Serpent Sting, Multi-Shot. This guy is going down so easy. So let’s have some fun with it since I’m full health and he’s only 20%. I run towards him, hit Aspect of the Monkey and Wing Clip when I’m in range. Hit him again with my Gorehowl (Savagery), hey I know is not a Hunter Axe but looks cool. And then another Concussive Shot and star casting my Aimed Shoot to finish his misery. This guu dies here and that’s 1 less reinforcement point to the hordes. Or that was what I thought.

All of the sudden a friking rogue hits me from behind. Rogue start hiting like crazy and the warrior is coming to me surely ROFL. I send my pet to the Rogue and Wing Clip rogue this time. Then switch to warrior so I can finsh him. That rogue hit so hard my health was already at 30%. Warrior is down and Rogue is almost full health.

In the meantime and before warrior is down I see an alliance priest player running very near and not stoping. It just give me a few sec to whisper him HELP. The response was “I’m going to get kill”.

Well after that team play support there was nothing I could do about that rogue. He hit like a beast even if I down him to almost 25%.

Well I lost Frostwolf GY and where did I res? Stormpike Aid Station. Darn. Another frustrating AV.

Well I’m not going to stay there. I’m going to try to recover that GY. Even if I know we already lost this battle. And if I see that priest omw there I’ll kill him myself, hehehe.

Stoping at the Icewing bunker I see a horde on the top and I decide to take him down. I go inside, traying not to make a lot of noice and aimed shoot at him when I’m in LOS. Hummm, he don’t move.

I go near him and:

me: /confused,
he: /hello
me: /wave
he: /wave
me: /confused
he: /sit
me: /lol
me: /sit

and think to myself, “hell, probably this guy had a bad day here also”.

So after a while sitting there we see some action below us, we stand, go near balcony and watch. After a while, we wave, jump and start killing eachother with the rest of us.

So even if we loose it was a good day in Alterac Valley.
